(Frequently Asked Questions/Policies)

Can I try out a class before signing up for an entire semester?

It is possible to demo one of our current class offerings if you wish. It's easy to do... Simply fill out the demo form on our website to request a demo class on the date and time of your choice. Your demo is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email.
At least one parent is required to attend the demo, even if the child normally will be coming to class with a nanny and caregiver.

above.

My child has an instrument that he/she loves to play at home. Can I bring my child's instrument to class?

No, we ask that you do not bring outside instruments to class throughout the semester, because it is often a distraction to other students. However, we will allow folks to bring their own instruments to the last class of the semester if they so desire.

How old are the children in the mixed age Little Music-Makers classes?

The mixed age classes are officially open to ages 6 months to 5 years. However, ages within the varying class times tend to center around similar age groups (based on common napping patterns.) The earlier scheduled classes of both morning and afternoon, tend to include younger class members (babies and toddlers), while the later classes of morning and afternoon respectively are more centered around slightly older kids (preschool and pre-k aged children.) These classes are not guaranteed to include a specific age range (other than 'Babies' and 'Big Music-Makers' classes and any student in our specified range is welcome to join any mixed age class.

Can I make up missed lessons?

Yes, students can make up a maximum of three classes throughout a 12 week semester. It is easy to schedule a make up class for any class listed on the schedule that is not full. You can schedule your make-up by filling out the make-up form here.

If I sign up for one semester of Little Music-Makers and miss classes this semester, can I take those classes as make-ups next semester?

No. Under no circumstances are classes transferrable from one semester to the next one or to later semesters. We do offer a generous and flexible make-up arrangement and it is the responsibility of the parent to schedule and attend these classes before the end of the semester. Unattended classes will not transfer to the next semester. See details for make-up lessons above.

May I take pictures/film/audio record at class?

We have a strict policy against audio recording and filming at class. If you are observed in violation of this policy, you may be asked to give up your spot in class for the remainder of the semester, without a refund.
All music heard in class is original, written by Irena and Joshua Smith, and the copyrighted intellectual property thereof, (other than public domain traditionals.)
Any internet posting of audio or video recording taken at a Little Music-Makers class, may be subject to copyright infringement legal recourse.
You are welcome to take pictures of your child, but we ask that you please respect the privacy of the other class members, and only photograph your child specifically.

Do you sing standard kids songs i.e. 'the wheels on the bus', 'ABC', 'twinkle twinkle little star'?

Our repertoire is made entirely of originals, and we have phased out the use of standard kid's material in lieu of our own music in class. On occasion we will include a classic kid's song from the public domain.

If you are signed up for Little Music-Makers class you are welcome to bring one younger sibling under the age of 6 months to class, only when their older sibling is attending and not otherwise.
