Michael Coleman

Michael Coleman is our advanced piano teacher and has been teaching piano in the Bay Area for 5 years. He has taught both privately and at A.L.M.A school of music in Orinda and the Jazz School in Berkeley. He has also given lecture/demonstrations as part of the education wing of SFJAZZ. Prior to his time in the Bay Area, Michael received a BA from Oberlin College in Ohio where he studied History and Music. At Oberlin, Michael taught jazz piano to fellow students and community members.
Michael studied with jazz greats Dan Wall, Michael Weiss and David Berkman as well as with Bay Area classical teacher Judith Meites. He performs regularly around San Francisco, Berkeley and Oakland with a variety of jazz, blues and rock acts and has toured both in the United States and Europe.
